Essoil staff, the I AM Committee, members of eucalyptus oil suppliers, local authorities of Nyamagabe District, and residents of Mugano Sector came together for a tree-planting activity in Nyamagabe District.

The activity, which covered 10 hectares of land, was implemented as planned. Essoil participated in the tree planting, in close collaboration with IAM forum, which is a committee of Eucalyptus oil suppliers, the district authorities and the local community. A representative from NAEB in charge of Essential Oils also attended, underlining the importance of coordinated efforts in promoting sustainable practices within the sector.
Preparation for the tree planting began in June, with the establishment of a nursery to raise eucalyptus globulus seedlings. This long-term preparation ensured that the activity was not only symbolic, but also practical and sustainable. The initiative aimed to clearly demonstrate that the eucalyptus oil processing sector is committed to reforestation and environmental protection, rather than deforestation.
Beyond planting trees, the activity reflected strong cooperation among different stakeholders. Suppliers, community members, and ESSOIL worked side by side, highlighting shared responsibility for environmental conservation and responsible land use. The dedication and active participation of community members played a key role in the success of the day.

The tree planting also created space to strengthen relationships with Nyamagabe District authorities following the recent temporary halt of eucalyptus oil extraction activities. District leadership, including the office of the Vice Mayor in charge of Economic Affairs, welcomed the initiative and reaffirmed their support for constructive collaboration. The district emphasized the importance of respecting and protecting activities that comply with regulations and contribute positively to local development.
In addition to the environmental focus, the activity demonstrated solidarity beyond tree planting. Through joint efforts and contributions made during the preparation of the activity, support was extended to AMAGAJU, the districts’ local football team, reflecting a broader commitment to community development and mutual support among partners.

We remain committed to responsible operations, environmental stewardship, and long-term partnership with suppliers, communities, and public institutions. This tree planting initiative stands as a shared achievement and an important step toward building trust, cooperation, and sustainable impact together.
